Senior Marketing Executive

Oriental Merchant is an established wholesaler and distributor of authentic Asian food goods in the FMCG industry. We supply major supermarkets and independent grocery stores across Australia, New Zealand and Europe with brands and products familiar throughout the Asia Pacific region. We are proud of what we have achieved in the Asian food category and are looking for a new addition to our team in this time of growth.


This role is Head Office based where you will working alongside an ethusiastic marketing team!


Your New Role:


Working with a team you will be responsible for the following tasks:



  • Planning and product development for assigned portfolio of brands as guided by the Senior Manager;

  • Comfortable preparing and completing an annual Marketing Plan;

  • Provide deep analysis of our brand’s sales performance and price benchmarking with competitors’ products as well as provide strategic reviews of the brand portfolio, new product extension and channel mix for future expansion plans;

  • Gather and analyse data using AC Nielsen, Aztec, Quantium and Quickturn database;

  • Able to track A&P across all assigned brands;

  • Prepare and present business reviews to the senior management team when required and conduct and leverage market research findings;

  • Provide regular brand tracking information to monitor market performance, brand performance against KPI's, budget tracking;

  • Prepare and present business review for suppliers as and when required;

  • Assist in identifying new business and promotion opportunities in relation to Asian Food service channel, e.g. restaurant, café etc.;

  • Track, analyze and report the results of events and marketing campaigns;

  • Provide regular brand tracking information to monitor market performance, brand performance against KPI's, budget tracking;

  • Working in co-operation with the Trade Marketing team, identify trade needs/ opportunities, develop pricing and distribution strategies in line with trade promotions for brands;

  • Assist Trade Marketing in relation to Asian Food service channel, e.g. Vietnamese and Chinese restaurant promotion;

  • Work effectively with local marketing team on preparation and execution of below the line activities such as in store sampling, merchandising, event and trade promotion

  • Track, analyze and report the results of events and marketing campaigns;

  • Regularly conduct market visits to monitor and report competitive activities and own brand performance at store level.


What You Will Need to Succeed:



  • Australian working rights;

  • FMCG background with at least 2-3 years of product management experience;

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English. Chinese (Mandarin or Cantonese) are viewed as highly advantageous but not essential;

  • Hands on experience in implementing marketing campaigns across both above and below the line channels;

  • Good analytical, numerical skills and ability to interpret data;

  • Strong computer skills in all Microsoft applications;

  • Can-do attitude, results orientated, motivated;

  • Multi-task, able to prioritize, attention to details;

  • Team work and a passion to drive quality outcomes.
